Physical copy of my first album, Providence. There is so much to say about this project. During the pandemic, I decided to invest in my studio equipment because recording wasn't feasible during those times of uncertainty. I picked up my pen and wrote every concept and idea for this record. The release took some time mainly because I was learning the process of recording. The physical CD is top notch. The artwork and presentation are amazing! Thank you for supporting my music.

about

The context behind this song is the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax collector. Luke 18:9-14.

What I wanted to convey was the humble attitude of the tax collector who was justified, rather than the self-righteous Pharisee.

“For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” If we are going to enter the kingdom of heaven and be satisfied there in Christ, we must first be “poor in spirit.”

lyrics

Nest86- Filthy rags feat. Colombes

1 Verse: A Yo, He spoke a parable to those who trusted in themselves treated others with despise the result? They lost themselves. The pharisee in the temple standing by himself, He prays, “God, I thank you that I’m not like no one else. Extortioners, & liars, or that tax collector there.

I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all I get. Notice he doesn’t ask for the forgiveness of his sins. Perhaps he believes he has nothing to confess. The condition of his heart exalts above the rest.

He focused on externals and boasted in his flesh. Confident in his righteousness, except his righteous acts, are as filthy rags.

Justified by faith and grace alone, not by works so that no man can boast. All I can say is that I’m in need of your love & I’m in need of your grace & I’m in need of you, Lord.

Hook 2x: I’m in need of your love, I’m in need of you grace, I’m in need of you, I’m in need of you.

2 Verse: The tax collector had nothing in his hands, Nothing to offer God except his guilt and sin. He couldn’t even lift his face. He beat his chest in rage He prays the cry of grace. Have mercy; I’m a sinner, because He felt disgrace.

In contrast to the pharisee who exalts himself in place, The man who couldn’t look up at the sky went down to his house justified.

3 Verse: I’m Self-reliant & I’m self-sufficient, man I’m a sinner & I need forgiveness. You sent your own son to be condemned. Since Christ bore my sins, I will trust in him!

When we are full of self, we miss the blessing, empty self so that God can dwell in. Lord, I’m a guilty lad, My righteousness apart from you is filthy rags.
